Corporate IT Support Technician
The IT Support Technician provides first-level technical support for end users across both corporate offices and manufacturing facilities. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting desktop computers, mobile devices, printers, industrial workstations, scanners, and manufacturing technology used throughout the organization.
The technician works directly with office personnel, plant operators, maintenance teams, engineering, and production leadership to ensure reliable operation of business and manufacturing systems. This role requires frequent work within active manufacturing environments and a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and operational excellence.
Essential Responsibilities
End User & Manufacturing Support
- Provide technical support for office personnel and manufacturing employees across multiple facilities.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and peripheral issues.
- Support shop floor workstations, industrial PCs, thin clients, barcode scanners, RF devices, label printers, and production terminals.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving manufacturing equipment and industrial networks.
- Coordinate with Controls Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to resolve technology issues impacting production.
- Assist with deployment and support of manufacturing applications, MES, ERP, quality, and production systems.
- Respond to production-critical issues with urgency to minimize manufacturing downtime.
- Install and maintain computers and IT equipment in industrial environments, including mills, melt shops, warehouses, maintenance shops, and office locations.
Infrastructure Support
- Install and replace desktop computers, monitors, network devices, printers, and related hardware.
- Assist with network troubleshooting, wireless connectivity, and basic infrastructure support.
- Support conference room technology, audio/video equipment, and collaboration tools.
- Maintain IT asset inventory and equipment lifecycle records.
Google Workspace & Business Applications
- Support Google Workspace including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Meet, Docs, Sheets, and related collaboration tools.
- Assist users during technology rollouts and software upgrades.
- Support Microsoft Office applications and business software as required.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- Accurately document incidents, requests, and resolutions within the IT ticketing system.
- Prioritize support requests based on business impact and production requirements.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience preferred.
- 2–5 years of Help Desk, Desktop Support, or Technical Support experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial environments preferred.
- Experience supporting Windows operating systems and Google Workspace.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts, printers, mobile devices, and endpoint hardware.
- Ability to work independently while supporting multiple locations and shifting priorities.
Work Environment
- Regularly work in manufacturing environments including melt shops, rolling mills, machine shops, warehouses, and production facilities.
- Must be able to safely navigate industrial environments while following all company safety policies and PPE requirements.
- Ability to lift and transport IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, crawl under desks or equipment, and work in confined spaces when installing or troubleshooting technology.
- Occasional after-hours and weekend support may be required during maintenance outages, system upgrades, or production-critical events.
- Occasional travel between company facilities is required.
