Everforth ECS is seeking a Cloud Engineer to work in the National Capital Region covering the Pentagon, Falls Church, and Fairfax. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

The War Data Platform (WDP) is a key initiative within the U.S. Department of War's (DoW) AI-First strategy introduced in early 2026. The WDP separates business and financial data from operational warfighting data, aiming to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) on the battlefield. The WDP extends to Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret environments, and supports collaboration between Combatant Commands, Joint Staff directorates, Senior Executive Service leaders, and operational analysts.

• The Cloud Engineer manages, operates, and maintains the AWS cloud infrastructure underpinning WDP Core Integration operations across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments, directly supporting DoW mission-owner communities spanning Army, Air Force, Navy, and Fourth Estate customers . This role delivers hands-on cloud systems engineering and operations expertise critical to sustaining platform reliability, security compliance, and continuous operational availability across WDP's multi-enclave architecture .
• Executes cloud operations supporting Department of War environments by configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Amazon Web Services infrastructures used within the War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration platform.
• Builds and modifies Virtual Private Clouds, routing components, access control configurations, and network interconnections aligned with operational and security requirements.
• Monitors system performance using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Config to track availability metrics, configuration changes, and workload trends.
• Applies configuration hardening baselines to compute instances, storage services, and application components using approved security methods and automated enforcement tools.
• Supports release and deployment processes by preparing staging environments, validating deployment prerequisites, and confirming functionality during integration and production transitions documented in Software Release Plans.
• Collects operational diagnostics supporting incident response investigations, root cause analysis, and post-incident reporting requirements.
• Executes system administration tasks including patching activities, service adjustments, storage optimization, and account permission updates.
• Automates system and application deployments using infrastructure-as-code tools such as AWS Systems Manager, CloudFormation templates, and scripted provisioning workflows.
• Maintains operational documentation covering system changes, performance results, and equipment inventories supporting asset management functions.
• Coordinates with cloud engineers, developers, and cybersecurity personnel to support issue resolution, system optimization, and operational planning.
• Provides measurable improvements in system reliability, configuration compliance, and operational efficiency across mission-critical cloud services supporting Army, Air Force, Navy, and Fourth Estate customers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• 3–10 years of experience in cloud engineering, systems administration, or a closely related technical discipline within federal, DoW, or enterprise AWS cloud environments.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with AWS cloud services including EC2, S3, VPC, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, CloudFormation, and AWS Systems Manager, with applied experience in configuration management, patching, monitoring, and infrastructure automation in classified or government cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for automated, repeatable infrastructure provisioning and configuration management across multi-enclave cloud environments.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate solution.
• Highly developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and professionally interact with a diverse set of stakeholders (from peers to end-users to executive management).
