About the Role
Kitsap Credit Union is searching for a Cloud Engineer. At Kitsap Credit Union, our success is built on secure, scalable, and optimally managed cloud infrastructure that empowers our business and technical teams. The Azure Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Azure cloud solutions with an emphasis on hybrid cloud environments, Infrastructure as Code (IAC) using Terraform, cost optimization, and seamless migration from on-premises systems including Active Directory. This role collaborates with multiple teams to ensure cloud governance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency across our Azure deployments.

Principal Accountabilities
- Design and implement scalable Azure cloud architectures that align with organizational objectives and technical requirements, and utilizing IaC when appropriate.
- Collaborate on infrastructure migration projects to Azure Active Directory (Entra), ensuring minimal disruption and smooth transitions.
- Develop, manage, and maintain IaC using Terraform for automated and consistent deployments.
- Architect and manage hybrid cloud environments integrating on-premises systems with Azure cloud resources.
- Engineer and optimize Azure networking solutions, including VNets, ExpressRoute, NSGs, VPNs, routing, Azure Firewall, Azure DNS, and load balancing.
- Plan and implement hybrid identity solutions using Azure AD Connect, Microsoft Entra ID, and federation configurations.
- Drive cloud cost optimization initiatives using Azure Cost Management and related tools.
- Collaborate with security and compliance stakeholders to maintain governance, identity management, and access policies in line with best practices.
- Stay current on Azure platform features and services and recommend improvements to existing architectures.
- Provide technical leadership and support across cloud adoption and modernization initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps Engineers to design, implement, and optimize continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, ensuring automated, reliable, and efficient application deployment processes.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated expertise in Terraform for IaC solutions.
- Proven experience in migrating on-premises infrastructure and Active Directory environments to Azure and Azure AD.
- Strong understanding of Azure networking, including VPN, ExpressRoute, VNet peering, NSGs, routing, Azure Firewall, Azure DNS, and load balancing.
- Experience managing hybrid cloud environments with on-premises integration.
- Proficiency with Azure cost management and optimization processes.
- Solid knowledge of Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, ARM templates, and Azure Policy.
- Familiarity with containerization tech (AKS, Docker) and CI/CD pipeline automation is a plus.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in building, designing, and deploying Microsoft Azure cloud solutions.
Preferred Qualifications and Requirements
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with Bicep, PowerShell, or Azure CLI automation.
- Strong understanding of hybrid identity solutions, conditional access policies, and federation protocols.
- Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks such as CMMC, ISO 27001, SOC 2 is preferred.

This position does not supervise others.
Working Conditions
This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required:

- The person in this position frequently communicates with peers, supervisors, vendors, and employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions

- On occasion will move up to 20 pounds of office objects
- Works in an indoor office environment but expected to attend meetings in buildings that require travel in outdoor weather conditions
- May require some occasional travel for meetings or technical guidance sessions.
- Ability to operate standard office productivity tools and systems continuously.
