This position is Full Time (Temporary) responsible for installing, configuring, and upgrading computer hardware and software systems. Supports multiple Windows service functions and initiates technical assistance and training to system users.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Primary Responsibilities:
Installs, configures and upgrades computer hardware and software systems.
Supports multiple Windows server functions, such as Active Directory and DNS.
Initiates technical assistance and training to system users
Monitors, maintains and performs LAN/WAN management, including user resources, group access, file systems, security performance, Internet management, (including connectivity)
Maintain current server anti-virus and client virus protection.
Installs, configures, upgrades and perform ongoing support and maintenance of multiple network services including IIS, (Internet Information Systems), DNS, (Domain Naming Service), DHCP, (Dynamic Host Control Protocol), TCP/IP, WINS, (Windows Internet naming Service) and Active Directory.
Installs, monitors and maintains LAN/WAN hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, and user workstations. Installs peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, disk drives, for user workstations including software, operation systems, utilities, multi-user software applications (network software applications), etc.
Understands and troubleshoots network infrastructure and components, including cables, hubs, switches, routers, NICS, USB ports, etc., as well as moderately complex network problems.
Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems.
Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation. Performs proactive network and server maintenance and diagnostics. Resolves and/or corrects network problems that may occur. Maintains network stability. Communicates and coordinates network schedule, backups and downtime to users authorized by the IT Manager.
Research and acquire technical support documentation for the ITS.
Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.
Writes and maintains documentation for projects and procedures.
Support, Services and Monitors computer equipment for all CAO sites.
Performs inspection of computer equipment and software installations for inventory and licensing purposes.
Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software and operator problems. Replace defective software packages.
Provides instruction and training in equipment, software and manuals for end-users and responds to user inquiries.
Provides technical consultation and direction to assist management.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Must present a professional image in conduct, attitude, and attire.
Satisfactory completion of mandatory training.
Additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree in computer sciences OR equivalent experience.
Two (2) years’ experience in computer-related field.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates competency with Windows 7, 8x, and 10 as used by workstations, stand-alone PCs, laptops, and related network (TCP/IP, IIS, DNS, IPX/SPX, WINS)
Strong knowledge of network products such as hubs, switches, and routers.
Knowledge of LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and Mobile Internet connectivity as well as other internet technology.
Project management skills required.
Competency with a variety of office productivity applications.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical manuals and government regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from coworkers, volunteers and service providers.
Ability to create charts and graphs as needed.
Ability to calculate percentages to monitor systems resources and to maintain equipment and supply inventory.
Remain current on technological advances in areas of IT, major hardware upgrades and innovations, OS/connectivity changes, data transmission methods and related protocols.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of unforeseen variables.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Strong people skills and the ability to work as a team member in a culturally diverse environment are necessary.
Strong commitment in maintaining confidentiality.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb stairs, balance self and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Employees must be comfortable on step ladders and stools
Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Valid NYS Driver’s License and proof of motor vehicle insurance coverage
Completion of the following documents:
CAO Employment application
NYS SCR Clearance Form with acceptable clearance
Criminal Record Certification and free of criminal convictions of crimes against children (misdemeanor or felony)
Fingerprinting required.
